Registration
Most families begin to consider future education several years in advance. We can sometimes accept late applications if places are available, but to give your child the best possible chance of obtaining a place, we advise that you contact us at least 18 months before the proposed date of entry.
In order to consider an application, we require a completed Registration Form, together with a non-refundable Registration Fee of £120.
How is Entry Assessed?
Children can join the Pre Prep Nursery class at any time of year following their third birthday if places are available; admission to Reception is in the September following their fourth birthday. There are no formal assessments, though we encourage those who join us to visit and spend a day with us, and prior to entry we seek reports and educational information from previous schools
Entrants to the Prep School sit English and Mathematics assessments. Many children come to our Assessment Day which is held in January each year, but it is possible to sit the assessments at other times. If children live overseas it is possible for us to send assessment papers to their current schools.
Entry to the Senior School at age 13 is usually through a successful Common Entrance examination. Students who are not at schools taking Common Entrance are tested separately and must supply their previous school reports. All students attend an interview, except in special circumstances.
Entrance to the Sixth Form is based on satisfactory performance at GCSE level; this generally means a minimum of B grades in the four chosen AS subjects and a minimum of C grades in Maths and English where appropriate. Applicants to the Sixth Form are invited to the School for interview prior to the completion of their GCSE studies.
We welcome applicants from overseas; about 10% of our Senior School and 5% of our Prep are from outside the UK. We may ask applicants from overseas to complete some simple tests so we can ascertain their competency in English and Maths. Applicants into our Sixth Form may be asked to sit additional tests.
