The Roses of Eyam by Don Taylor
19th & 20th June 2008

Last year the Third Form dazzled us with a production of George Orwell's Animal Farm, this year large cast of talented Third Formers brings to stage The Roses of Eyam. When the bubonic plague broke out in the Derbyshire village of Eyam in 1665, the villagers decided to quarantine themselves to prevent spreading the disease. Many of Eyam's people left no record of their experiences; this play explores imaginatively what cannot be explored historically - the personalities, the arguments and the doubts and suffering which lay behind the remarkable decision to seal off the village.
