Curriculum
Our curriculum is unusually broad. All children study the traditional academic subjects; however we also place strong emphasis on the Creative Arts, Design Technology and Sport and Physical Education. This balanced curriculum allows children to pursue their interests and develop strengths and enthusiasms at a relatively young age.
All children have the opportunity to perform in our curriculum Drama, Dance and Music productions and they all study French. We also offer Latin, Spanish and German from Year 7. Children travel outside the school on a variety of field trips each year, experiencing a hands-on and stimulating approach to learning.
We set children by ability in many subjects, allowing us to cater for the needs of each child and ensure that all children learn at a rate consistent with their abilities. Our classes our small with an average class size of 14, enabling teachers to give children individual attention. We aim to maximise every child’s potential and strive to help children develop good study habits and a real love of learning.
All children are prepared for the Common Entrance or Scholarship exams for entrance to Gresham’s Senior School and other leading independent schools. Our children have a record of performing very well in these exams.
We have a well-stocked and vibrant library and a modern Information Technology Centre, as well as very good IT facilities around the school. Children also benefit from our well-equipped Design Technology and Art Departments and a purpose-built Music Centre.
