Personal Development

We aim to help our children develop into confident and enthusiastic young people and we strongly emphasise the values of care, compassion, honesty and good manners.  We expect all those who are a part of our community, adults and children alike, to be treated with respect and to be valued for who they are and what they do.

Personal, Social and Health Education is an important part of our curriculum, and through this programme we cover many relevant issues such as personal safety, healthy lifestyle, peer pressure and emotional development.

We also run an extensive charity fundraising programme which encourages children to focus on those who are less fortunate than themselves as well as giving them insight and knowledge into the world beyond their personal experience, developing a sense of social justice and duty.

Children are also encouraged to take up any of the many opportunities to pursue new activities and build new strengths.  We offer a wide range of hobbies, which vary from trampolining and fencing to mosaic building and sea shanty singing! Our sports programme is extensive and offers opportunities to children of all abilities.

Pupils also have many opportunities to take on responsibility.  Joining the School Council, becoming a prefect or dorm captain or taking on responsibilities within tutor groups or houses are all popular means for children to take on new responsibilities and challenges.

We encourage all children to become involved, follow their interests and develop their strengths. Our emphasis on the importance of building strong and balanced relationships and on respect and kindness helps all of our children develop into caring and confident adolescents.
