Gifted & Talented

We aim to stretch and challenge our most able pupils on a daily basis through stimulating teaching and interesting extension work.  There are also many opportunities outside the curriculum for the brightest children to excel, and we hold membership with the National Association for Able Children in Education.

Joining societies, such as our Scholarship Forum and the History Society, allow children to pursue their interests in particular areas, and taking part in Science or Design Technology challenges offers an innovative and fun opportunity to extend learning.  Equally important is our broad curriculum, including challenging and unusual subjects such as Ancient Greek, which is taught at lunch times for those who wish to extend their knowledge of classical languages.  Participating in activities such as the Headmaster’s weekly challenge, joining general knowledge quiz teams and taking part in field trips are similarly important in stimulating our brightest pupils.

In Year 8 a number of our pupils are prepared for Senior School Scholarship exams.

Those who excel in areas such as Music, Drama, Art and Sport have many opportunities to develop their skills and enthusiasm both inside and outside the curriculum.
