Sport has always been considered an integral part of education at Gresham’s.
We believe in educating the ‘whole person’ and seek to cultivate healthy and caring team players who value the importance of collaboration and leadership.
We encourage all students to get involved in any of the various sports we offer, and we benefit from an enviable reputation in hockey, rugby, cricket, netball and shooting. However above all else we seek to help students make the most of their sporting abilities in a fun and healthily competitive environment.
Our sporting facilities include a double Astroturf pitch, 25-metre indoor swimming pool, two sports halls, tennis courts and an indoor shooting range. Our students have achieved sporting success in a number of areas: we have produced an Olympic medal-winner in hockey and several England rugby players, in addition to recent countywide and national successes in cricket, athletics and swimming. Our Rifle Club has an exceptional record, with members regularly competing at an international level and earning national titles.
Our teams also regularly participate in tours abroad, building team spirit while experiencing and appreciating another culture. Recent tour destinations have included Jamaica, South Africa, Barbados and Australia.
