A new Plasma cutter is now up and running in the Cairns Centre workshops. This is a computer controlled machine and can cut through steel up to 12mm thick. Will A is the first pupil to make use of this technology and is producing a number of 6mm thick steel shapes that will be welded together as a part of his A level 3D design project. His 3D printed plastic prototype featured in an earlier news item, and no doubt there will be further entries as the project progresses.
