Agriculture programme continues whilst learning from home

Our new Agriculture programme has continued during lockdown. The first cohort of the BTEC course have made good use of the time online by switching to cover more of the research-based elements of the course. A machinery assessment day at Billockby Farms and a visit to the Ben Burgess Servicing Department have been postponed but pupils are looking forward to them when they are able to take place.

Furthermore, keen Year 11 pupils have been joining a weekly discussion group covering diverse topics such as ‘to plough or not to plough’ and ‘farmers in the snow’, whilst the Year 9 GAPS group have been presenting on aspects of local farms. Year 9 pupil Jack was featured in the Farmers Weekly for designing and building a fantastic steel frame to carry a front linkage storage box taken from a Dewulf potato harvester.
