Cambridge Half Marathon 2022
10 March 2022

On Sunday March 6th more than 55 members of the School Community took to the streets of Cambridge for the Half Marathon. It was great to be back in Cambridge and for many of the pupils to have their first taste of a mass sporting event. The weather was fine and dry with a cool breeze making it ideal conditions for our runners. First home for the pupils was Tom E with a ridiculous time of 1 hour 24 minutes and then Joe O on 1 hour 31 minutes. Both times were very fast and impressive! A massive well done to all those who took part!
Together we have raised over £3,000 for Young Minds. It would be great if we might yet see this total climb a little higher. If you would like to donate, please click here.
To those that might be feeling inspired, there are still places available for the Gresham’s Triathlon on Sunday April 24th. Please see the form below for any last-minute entries! https://forms.office.com/r/FkE5S8nYam
Alongside our runners, a group of 26 pupils from across the forms and across the houses volunteered to run a water-station and refuelling point as part of the school’s contribution to the Cambridge Half marathon. They gave out over 5,500 bottles of water, 1,400 gel capsules and countless thousands of cheers and ‘come ons’ to the 14,000 athletes as they trooped past our station at the 3-mile mark. It was hard work (though not as hard as actually running the event) but extremely enjoyable, life-affirming and very good for the soul. Well done to all who took part and played their part; none more so than to Albert W for his turn on the mic with his Cambridge rap.
