Chinese department create beautiful water colour paintings

Our Year 12 Chinese International Baccalaureate class and advance Mandarin Year 9 class have been learning Chinese painting in classes taught by our Mandarin language assistant Miss Shen. Chinese Brush Painting is one of the oldest continuous artistic traditions in the world.

Chinese painters use a traditional brush dipped into black or coloured ink on special paper or silk. Subjects include flowers, birds, animals, mountains and rivers. The painter aims to capture the life and spirit of the subject, making it live through the brush of the painter and the eyes of the viewer.

We are pleased to showcase some excellent work produced by our International Baccalaureate students: Katy, Jakob, Livio, Grace and Belle.
