Gritty Grasshopper 2022
9 June 2022

This year’s Gritty Grasshopper saw all Houses come together, with over 270 pupils taking part in a great whole School event, to raise a fantastic total of £4,132 for the Holt Youth Project.
Notable moments from the afternoon included the Howson’s chants and team spirit, the new fashion of wearing underwear on the outside and the brilliant support that the girls’ Houses showed each other around the course. And who can forget the HSMs corner and Mr Burnett’s costume!
There were several categories involved in the outcome:
The team race result, the House race result, and the ultimate winners; a combination of the House race time and total funds raised by the House. To work this out the total fundraised was subtracted from the total time of the House.
In joint third place for the fastest team were Farfield and Tallis, Year 10, who were just one minute behind Tallis Year 9 and Woodlands Year 12 who claimed joint second place. The Tallis Year 9 team will be one to watch next year.
The fastest team on the day was the Year 10 Woodlands team who managed to complete the course in an amazing time of 45 minutes, which, in the race’s current format, will be hard to beat. The bar has been set!
For the House totals, the times of all year groups within each House were collated. Farfield came in third with a total time of 156 minutes, Tallis a close second with 148 minutes and Woodlands the fastest House on the day with a total of 146 minutes.
All of the Houses made an amazing effort to raise funds this year, with more raised than ever before at a Gritty Grasshopper. Our top four fund raisers are in reverse order: fourth place Oakeley, third place Farfield, second place Woodlands and in front by hundreds of pounds, Queens’.
The ultimate race winners taking away the Gritty Grasshopper this year were Woodlands
