Junior and Senior winners of the Hugh Lock Peace Medal Challenge announced
25 November 2020

Mr Kinder encouraged pupils to enter this year’s Hugh Lock Peace Medal challenge during Chapel assemblies after the School’s Remembrance service. Students had a week to produce a creative piece – prose, poetry, art, music, drama or a film – on the theme ‘Make Peace Indestructible’. Hugh Lock OG, was seriously wounded during WWII and gifted two peace medals to be awarded to students in 2005.
There were forty-three entries in this year’s competition from Years 9, 10, 12 and 13 in a variety of formats.
Congratulations to Josh B, Joe O and Daisy P whose short-filmed drama piece wins the Senior competition and Kitty R whose poem ‘The Day That Peace Sang’ wins the Junior award. Thank you to everyone who entered. Highly commended were: Lizzie P-R (prose), Miranda H-S, Eliza A (poetry) and Jasmin L (art).
