Lara and Willem are student advocates for the Financial Times
21 January 2022

Two Lower Sixth pupils, Lara and Willem, have been working as student advocates for the Financial Times newspaper. Every month they have calls to discuss their progress as advocates with multiple students from all over the world. What attracted them to the advocate role was their interest in journalism and the amazing opportunity to make connections with fellow international advocates. All advocates read and exchange articles that they recommend, and these reflect diverse interests and the current economic state around the world. These diverse views break through the normal echo chambers of social media platforms. All Gresham’s pupils can read the Financial Times for free online when in school and Willem and Lara would encourage pupils to create their own account which gives them free access to all articles wherever you are in the world.
