Music Department Update

Pupils and staff returned from half term, fully charged and firing on all cylinders creatively. The main focus over the final few weeks of term has material for the Speech Day concerts and our department series of Lockdown Concerts scheduled for Friday 3 June; a nod to the fact we should have been celebrating all things music and drama in Theatre in the Woods.  We hope as many of you as possible will join us the Lockdown Concerts, as a final hurrah. All concerts will be live streamed from this link on the Gresham’s Media YouTube Channel on You Tube. If you are busy on Friday, do find time to watch them at a later date. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfAAgvAwHb-1iAld4j5IjdQ

The Strathmore Studio has been central to much of the editing of the all virtual films and concerts this term and the purchase of new software has made this easier.  This software will enhance the new Music Technology BTEC which replaces Music Technology A Level next term.  A far more practical course, it is a must for anyone wishing to work in the Music Production Industry.

The Music department says farewell to Mrs Sommerville this term, she has been a valued member of the department over the past year.  In September we welcome Mr Carr to the Britten Building.  He has recently graduated from Oxford and as a fine musician, is an exciting addition to the department.

Finally, any pupils wishing to carry on with music lessons through the Summer holidays should contact their individual music teachers.  All lessons will be conducted online via Teams and will be charged through the School in the usual way.
