English Schools’ Cross Country Championship

It was a cold race day for Nelly Porter (B) and Kim Sly-Jex (B) who headed to Nottingham to take place in the English Schools Cross Country Championships.

35_Cross-Country-websizeNelly’s race was unfortunately marred by a spectators dog which became loose and knocked her and other runners over.  She suffered some runners running over the top of her before she got back to her feet and courageously worked her way back through the field to finish 36 out of 340.

She was the second Norfolk county runner home, her result helped the junior Norfolk team secure second overall. In the senior race Kim raced well completing the 4.2km course in twenty one minutes which is close to her PB this year.  It was a tremendous effort given the muddy conditions of the course she was racing. Kim was the 5th senior girl from Norfolk to finish.

Congratulations to both girls for an excellent performance.
