Career Bites

Chris Dennis, a broadcast journalist with a degree in languages, (French and German), came to talk to pupils in Year 10, Year 11 and in the Sixth Form about his career in sports journalism, highlighting how languages can be a platform from which to launch into many careers. He explained his success as a sports journalist was due in part to his ability to be able to interview in foreign languages.

He is currently a freelance journalist who reports on all sports for the BBC but predominantly tennis and athletics, regularly interviewing top tennis players such as Rafael Nadal, and athletes such as Mo Farrah.

He gave an informative and engaging talk where pupils enjoyed learning about how languages could open up many career opportunities for them in the future.
