This term has seen some of our pupils taking part in some additional Combined Cadet Force Clay Shooting activities. Unfortunately, the first session was cancelled due to the snow, high winds and freezing temperatures. However, for the final three Friday afternoons of term pupils were given the opportunity to try Clay Target Shooting in our newly created clay trap range in the school woods. Over this three-week period, about forty students will have had the opportunity to shoot.
The School Clay Target Team has also been practising in preparation for various competitions next term, which will include matches against Norwich School, The National Cadet Clay Target Shooting Championships and the charity competition ‘Breaking Clays’.
The team practises before and after the CCF trial sessions on a Friday and often stay to support those who come along to have a go for the first time. Occasionally the team will also visit other locations for Tuesday afternoon practices, including the Mid Norfolk Shooting ground and local fields in Barningham and Letheringsett.
This term the Clay Shooting Club has also been lucky enough to have Karl Hagan as an instructor on two Tuesday afternoons and is very grateful to the Flux family for providing this fantastic opportunity for the students.
In addition to Clay Target Shooting on Friday afternoons, there have been opportunities for members of all three sections of the CCF to have a taster scuba dive session with Mr Detnon in the school pool.
