Music Thrives at Gresham’s

Music and Munch has been hugely varied this term.  The staff performed, it was superb to see non-music staff showing what they could do, especially Mr Curtis, Mr Gillingwater and Mr O’Donnell.  The following concert was taken over by the Percussion Ensemble, performing in the Recital Hall, led by Simon Limbrick.  Do please come and support these lunchtime concerts on Thursdays, 1.20pm.  They are endlessly varied!

David Briggs, the renowned organist gave a fabulous performance in the Subscription series.  We moved the organ from Chapel to the Auden Theatre, and he played during the screening of the silent movie Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.  Filmed in 1920, it still had the audience captivated, and David Briggs showed why he is such a famous improviser…. He certainly cast a spell!

And finally, Congratulations! Clementine Chapple has got onto the foundation course at Artsed  and Romy Sipek has gained a place at Millennium.  Both have had success at their very first auditions, and they will have been competing with some serious opposition.  This is an incredible achievement!
