The Auden Theatre hosted the annual ‘Songs from the Shows‘ on Friday 6th March. After extensive rehearsals and preparation, the House Band and Jimmy T took centre stage to open and invite the audience into the world of the musicals, closely followed by concert band and the full company. The soloists and company then took us on a journey from ‘Waitress’ and ‘Cinderella’ to ‘Dear Evan Hansen‘ and the most contemporary shows. The first half culminated in a spectacular performance from the musical ‘Hamilton’.
Opening the second half of the show the Jazz Company sprinkled a little ‘Hollywood magic’ with performances from ‘Top Hat’, ‘An American In Paris’ and ‘Easter Parade’ to name a few. A final flurry through the music of Sondheim and ‘Funny Girl’ and a rousing finale from over 60 performers of ‘Seasons of Love’ from Rent concluded the evening. A huge £500 was raised for the People’s Picnic, our chosen School charity and we would like to thank everyone who supported the evening. A huge thank you in recognition of all of the hard work put in from the pupils and staff, without whom it would not be possible.
