Lunch

At Gresham’s Nursery and Pre-Prep, we recognise that snack and meal times are an important part of the child’s day. It is a social time for children to enjoy food.

We aim to provide healthy, balanced, varied and nutritious food and drink to meet the child’s needs and encourage them to develop and promote healthy lifestyles and well-being throughout their life.

A snack is provided at first break for all pupils which includes a piece of fruit and a drink as well as an afternoon snack after lunch. Children are always very excited for their Monday morning flapjack, to give them much needed energy for their weekly swimming lesson!

Lunch takes place in the hall.  The children sit in small groups with a member of staff to encourage a positive eating experience.  Good table manners are encouraged.  We provide children with utensils that are appropriate for their ages and stages of development and they are all encouraged to eat their lunch with a knife and fork.

We take care not to provide food containing nuts or nut products and are especially vigilant where we have a child who has a known allergy to nuts.  We are able to provide lunch for many different dietary requirements.
