The Piglet Shield: Annual Small-Bore Fixture

On Sunday 24th February, the Rifle Club competed in the annual Small-Bore fixture against the Old Greshamian’s rifle team.  For a good number of the OG’s at the match this is the only occasion, during the course of the year, that they actually fire a small-bore rifle, so it is even more impressive that they are still able to shoot such excellent scores.  There was a great turn out by the OG’s and an equally impressive spread of ages, with the oldest having left Gresham’s in 1969 and the most recent having only left last year.  The OG’s managed to shoot the top two individual scores on the day and went on to win the match, quite convincingly, by 24 points.  Tristan Tancred top scored for the School team and was third top scorer on the day.  After the match, both teams enjoyed an excellent lunch in the local pub and the OG’s were able to share stories from their time at Gresham’s with the current team.

Mr Grounds, Master in charge of Shooting, thanks members of the team for their continued hard work and commitment and thanks Mr Keen for driving the minibus on the day.
