Our Senior pupils performed well in the school’s cross-country fixture
25 January 2022

Some fresh faces and old hands arrived in perfect conditions for the school’s cross-country fixture between RHS, Ipswich and Norwich.
The Juniors raced over 3.2km and the race was won by Ben W in an impressive 12 minutes and 41 seconds, a minute ahead of his closest rival. This gave Gresham’s the win in the Junior category.
The Inters competition was closer with several lead changes over the 5kms between RHS and Norwich. Joe G and Spike C put in strong performances but could not get past the competition. Their results placed them in third.
The Girls race covered 5km and saw a great turn out from Gresham’s, with many pupils opting for cross country this term to help them train for the Cambridge half marathon. Hattie R ran away from the field but was chased hard by a competitor from Ipswich. Maya P came in third, Johanna B was fourth and the girls, along with Lily C, Molly F, Molly P and Taya P, proved too strong a team to let Ipswich and RHS through, meaning Gresham’s were able to take first place.
The Senior race covered 8.4km and was led from start to finish by Ned P. He ran a great race and looked relaxed, as if he was out for a Sunday stroll. Joe O was holding second but was pushed down to third, losing 20 seconds in the last lap. Archie K put in a great effort in his debut and Thomas L brought the spectators to their feet with an epic sprint and photo finish to end the race. His performance helped secure first place for the Gresham’s Senior team.
Well done to everyone involved and thank you to all the marshals out on the course.
