Britten Music Course
Since 2010, the Britten Music Course (BMC) has given opportunities to talented young musicians to develop their skills, learn new repertoire, and perform at the highest standards while experiencing boarding life at Gresham’s with like-minded children. Named after Gresham’s most famous musical Old Boy Benjamin Britten, the BMC is a residential music course for passionate, young musicians between the ages of 8-13.
Amid much music-making, quizzes, pizza nights, trips to the beach, games time and a trip to the Red House in Aldeburgh, former home of Benjamin Britten, we ensure the children have an action-packed week. BMC participants enjoy a mix of orchestral and choral workshops, with opportunities to perform in both solo and ensemble concerts, making full use of our new state of the art Music School, The Britten Building. The course culminates in a concert in our School Chapel. The programme for the concert will include Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Parry’s I was Glad among other coronation-themed goodies.
Parents and older siblings can be involved, too. See details of the Come and Sing weekend which culminates in a concert at the Holt Festival, providing fun for all the family.
The course will take place from Tuesday 17th to Sunday 22nd July 2018 at Gresham’s Prep School and is fully residential. The cost of the BMC is £375 and includes all tuition, music, course T-shirt, activities and trips, accommodation, food and transport.
“Singing immaculately… magical and truly uplifting.”
