This year’s Prep School Christmas play, a Christmas Story, adapted by Head of English Miss Harvey did not fail to disappoint. Set in the 1980s in Holt, the story follows a little boy, Ralphie, on a journey to get his ideal Christmas gift; a Red Ryder carbon action 200-shot air rifle. The Art and Design and Technology department produced a beautiful set which helped bring each scene to life. Performed by pupils in Year 7 and 8 this wonderful performance, which included up to forty-nine children on stage over the course of the show, was testament to their professionalism and hard work to prepare for a production of this scale. Their performances lit up the stage with so many laugh out loud moments. The children all performed brilliantly and with such focus and commitment and really brought their characters to life. The music for the show, taken from the 80s, saw many of the mums and dads tapping their toes throughout the production and may even see a surge in 80s music downloads over the Christmas period!
A retiring collection was taken at the end of each performance, the proceeds from which will be donated to help build a dedicated garden for members of the Gresham’s community to enjoy which will be named in honour of Kim Quick.
