Welcome from the Head

James QuickWe think that our school is a very special place. We are able to offer a broad, forward looking curriculum, a vast range of co-curricular activities and outstanding pastoral care and support.

It is an immensely busy and vibrant school where the happiness and progress of every child is an absolute priority. This is an inclusive place where we want every child to feel encouraged, confident and at home. We want all our pupils to develop strong roots that will help them grow into happy, well balanced and responsible adults; we value the individual and we hope that all our pupils learn to be proud of themselves, their abilities and their individuality. We also make sure that children have plenty of time to be children and that play, fun and laughter feature strongly in their lives.

We benefit from excellent facilities, partly due to our link with the Senior School. These include a purpose built theatre (The Auden), an indoor 25 metre swimming pool, a substantial purpose-built Art and DT facility (The Butterwick Centre), tennis and squash courts, excellent rugby and cricket pitches, and two full size astro turf hockey pitches.

Most of our pupils move on to Gresham’s Senior School, however we prepare children for entry (including scholarships) into all senior schools. In recent years our pupils have moved onto a number of schools including Ampleforth, Charterhouse, Framlingham, Norwich School, Oundle, Rugby, Stowe, The Leys and Uppingham.

About a quarter of our boys and girls are boarders. They are free to go home at the weekend from 4.00pm on Saturday and may return either on Sunday evening or Monday morning. A number of children stay at school at the weekend and there are plenty of exciting trips and adventures organised. Many day children flexi-board one, two or three nights a week and love having a chance to enjoy boarding life. Find out more about what our pupils enjoy about boarding by watching our new boarding film.

We would be delighted to welcome you to Gresham’s Prep School; please come and visit!
