Pupils have enjoyed work experience and careers advice opportunities

Work Experience

Year 12 pupil, Alana E, joined the Norwich team of Pinnacle Consulting engineers for two days at half term to see what it’s like to work as an engineer. During her time, Alana learned how to use AutoCAD Civil 3D to 3D-model a proposed surface and completed a basic drainage design. The Norwich team were very impressed with her work.

Pinnacle Consulting said, “We always welcome the opportunity to shine a light on what being an engineer really means, showing younger generations how engineering can be a varied, challenging and rewarding career”.

UCAS Exhibition

Year 12 pupils went to the Norfolk Showground for the UCAS Exhibition. They could speak to over 100 university representatives and listen to a range of talks. It was an informative trip which was well received by all, and has certainly given them some food for thought!

OG Clare Mawson (c & B 2003 – 14)

It is always so helpful to the Careers department to embrace the vast and varied OG career paths. Thank you to Clare for giving up her time to talk to a current Year 12 pupil interested in a career with the Royal Navy.

Clare is currently serving in the Royal Navy as an Assistant Marine Engineering Officer on an Astute class submarine. She is about to go to sea where her role involves keeping supervisor watches on a nuclear reactor and managing a team of engineering technicians who maintain mechanical and electrical systems on board, both at sea and alongside.

OG Paul Mylvaganam (Barrister-at-Law) (c & W 1984)

It was super to welcome Paul back to give a virtual talk to Year 12 pupils interested in a future career in Law or as a Barrister. Paul gave a superb insight into the study of Law, giving tangible advice and insight to the prospective Law pupils.

Prep School Careers morning with Year 7 & 8

The Careers Department organised a half day programme with the education facilitator 8billionideas to give both year groups the opportunity to explore, with an interactive programme, their individual strengths, skills, passions and unique personality and to learn self-awareness and strategies to present well at future interviews.

Pupils then had the opportunity to speak with a range of representatives from a diverse range of occupations. It was super to have support from Old Greshamian speakers, Pre-Prep and Prep School parents and the community.
