Senior school > Curriculum

Academic life at Gresham’s aims to be stimulating, exciting and fulfilling. We expect every pupil to work hard and maintain the highest standards in approaching their academic work. At every level, we offer a curriculum which we believe is versatile and enriching and equips pupils with the knowledge, skills and curiosity to learn wherever their interests take them.

In Year 9, pupils study the complete curriculum, including exposure to the full set of sciences, humanities, creative subjects and up to three languages. In Years 10 and 11, pupils study up to ten IGCSE and GCSE subjects which enables them to keep open a wide diversity of career opportunities. The School offers a one-year programme for Year 11 joiners called the Pre-IB course.

In the Sixth Form, pupils can choose to follow the IB Diploma Programme, a portfolio of three A level subjects, or to replace one or two A levels with BTEC diplomas. All the routes provide a rigorous academic background opening up for pupils a wide range of university options and career pathways.

There is no such thing as a typical Greshamian and one of the joys of the community is observing the growth of academic progress, intellectual and imaginative confidence, and aspiration amongst our pupils. Gresham’s is a stimulating academic environment and we look forward to seeing where your academic journey will take you.

“They demonstrate strong academic progress both within lessons and over time as demonstrated in their attainment results.”

Academic results

At Gresham’s we strive to educate the whole child with an emphasis on their intellectual, spiritual and physical development. Happy pupils are successful learners and our broad curriculum delivers a tailored approach to each pupil’s education.

We welcome children of all abilities and our exam results are excellent.

Library

The Library is central to teaching and learning within the Senior School, providing a wide range of resources to support the curriculum as well as a comfortable space for individual study, supervised study, teaching, revision and prep.

Pupils are encouraged to ask for help with research, academic referencing, or if they have a special resource request. Library staff can request or buy material to support coursework, the Extended Essay, university reading or personal study.

Our Learning Support Department caters for pupils with a variety of specific learning difficulties including Dyspraxia, ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and ASD.

We do our utmost to offer assistance which best matches the needs of the pupil, striving to help each child excel.
