The Impact of Covid-19 on provision at Gresham’s
Following Government instruction, Gresham’s School closed on Friday, 20th March 2020 due to Covid-19. For the remainder of the Lent and Summer terms, the alternative provision was online teaching via Microsoft Teams; recording lessons for those who could not access lessons, and setting work on the Team. The impact on learning was through the lack of full interaction between pupils and their peers and teachers. Practical subjects were most significantly affected, and it was not possible to run experiments in the sciences. Our university application process continued online; however, there were delays, and support for students during this time came in a different format.
The end of Year 12 internal assessments which would normally take place in June, took place in September. This meant that summative assessment feedback to our students was delayed but means staff are confident in their predicted UCAS grades. Some pupils continue to be affected due to circumstances meaning their education is continuing online due to isolation or difficulties with travel.
