Senior Girls’ Hockey

The girls’ hockey club have had a fantastic season with a great set of results across the club.

We entered six teams into the County Cups and all qualified for the East of England rounds of the competitions which was an excellent achievement. The stats have also been very impressive across the block fixtures, with the following return on block/friendly fixtures being the best return in recent years:

Team Played Won Drawn Lost Goals For Goals Against
1st XI 12 9 2 1 45 9
2nd XI 8 6 0 2 17 6
3rd XI 4 2 1 1 7 11
4th XI 3 3 0 0 8 3
U15A 10 3 2 5 9 23
U15B 7 3 2 2 19 7
U14A 10 8 1 1 20 8
U14B 7 3 0 4 19 17
TOTAL CLUB 61 37 (61%) 8 (13%) 16 (26%) 144 84

Each week, a Club Player of the Week is awarded for contributions ‘above and beyond the normal call of duty’. Winners this half of term have been Masie Moxon, Poppy Wharton, Tilly Mann and the whole of the U14B team for their valiant cup run!

One of the highlights was the exceptional victory over St John’s Leatherhead that the 1st XI achieved. This was a very high tempo match played in the highest tiered cup competition for school girl hockey in the country. Lucy Reader provided a moment of magic, scoring an excellent goal to take all three points.

I would like to place on record my thanks to all the girls for their exceptional hard work in training and for buying into the new club ethos. My thanks also go to all of the staff for their time and effort in coaching the girls, many spending extra time out on the astros, offering extra practices in a bid to improve results.
