Pupils entering the Sixth Form receive consistent and experienced support and guidance on the UCAS process through the Deputy Head (Academic), UCAS coordinator and Careers Coordinator.

Pupils partake in Annual Aspiration Reviews, identifying progress, and discussion takes place regarding potential plans for their future with their Tutors and Houses Masters/Mistresses.

The UCAS and Careers coordinator work collaboratively, visiting all Houses to offer support in post sixth form destinations and in organising workshop sessions for UCAS registration and with speakers talks/workshops to help pupils who are looking at alternative pathways to university.

There is access to one-to-one advice and career guidance, as well as access to the careers online platform UniFrog and to Morrisby online psychometric tests to help pupils with finding out more about themselves.

Through the academic year pupils are invited to attend a variety of careers events to support and help pupils with next step decisions including –

In the Michaelmas Term – the UCAS and Careers coordinator organise a variety of talks to help pupils with different options paths and to assist with the UCAS registration and application process.

In the Lent Term – the Career Bites Talks are organised for pupils to hear from a diverse range of speakers representing a wide range of careers sectors; STEAM events with talks and a careers fair showcasing the variety of roles within Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, Maths;  they attend the Higher Education Fair with all universities in attendance.

The Gresham’s Careers Business Breakfasts are targeted to Lower and Upper Sixth Form pupils to provide an opportunity for the pupils to practise and develop their presentation and networking skills with business employers.

In the Summer Term, the Lower Sixth pupils, and their parents, attend the Lower Sixth Futures Conference which is based at the School, where seminars are provided to offer information about going to university and future pathways.

Throughout the academic year all Sixth Form pupils have an open opportunity, and are encouraged, to receive guidance from the Gresham’s Careers coordinator.
