Bursary Fund

Gresham’s has been helping families who need assistance with school fees from the day it began. The Fishmongers’ Company’s generous support has played an invaluable part.

The School wishes to receive a larger number of talented children who would like to benefit from its remarkable broad education. The School needs help to increase this support and wishes to build up a substantial Bursary Fund. Click here to view our Bursaries leaflet.

At Gresham’s we embrace the key role we play in education both within Norfolk and East Anglia, and further afield. Our outlook is increasingly international as we nurture our pupils to be confident young people who can handle the challenges of the global community. We balance this with our deep historic roots in Norfolk, from which generations of Gresham’s children have gone on to make their mark in the world.

“At Gresham’s you have the chance to perform at the highest level in theatre, music and sport at the same time, which is often not possible at other schools.”

Old Greshamian

Talented children will inspire those around them, whatever their background, and if we are to ensure that Gresham’s fulfils its educational role we must attract more gifted young people from across society.

This in turn means increasing our bursary provision and removing the financial barriers that stand in the way of talented young people joining and enhancing Gresham’s. We must ensure that children can join us on the basis of their ability and potential, irrespective of their parents’ ability to pay. In straitened times, when rural families are among the hardest hit, this matters more than ever.

“I can’t begin to express the multitude of opportunities that a Gresham’s bursary has provided. I’ve been able to experience a diverse range of social, cultural and sporting activities that have allowed me to mature and excel during my time at the school.”

Old Greshamian

We have set ourselves the aim of giving at least five young people a year the opportunity of a life-changing Gresham’s education, through a mix of full and partial bursaries, for entry to the Senior School in years 9 and 12.

“Gresham’s has the benefits of a small school with the grounds and facilities of a large school, which means that all children have the chance to achieve more.”

Old Greshamian

We can achieve this by generating new support for bursaries, either by annual commitments or through our new Bursary Fund. But we can only achieve it with the support of our community of OGs and friends. We must raise, between us, £5 million by 2020.

With your help we can achieve this.

Thank you.
