The Chinese department celebrates Chinese Luna New Year

As the moon completes its 12th cycle of lunar phase, we welcome in the start of a new lunar year. Happy Chinese New Year – especially to all those tigers out there (birth year 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022).

To celebrate Chinese New Year, Mandarin Chinese pupils paid a visit to the most authentic Chinese restaurant in Norwich for their New Year meal on 25th January. The pupils truly enjoyed a banquet with over 20 dishes presented. They have had the opportunity to bring their learning from the classroom into the real day-life practice within a celebration of culture and enjoyment. An especially big thank you again to Mr Nelson for joining us for the celebration and driving us safely.

The Norwich meal event was accompanied by our China theme art week wherein pupils created some excellent Chinese water colour paintings. These extremely impressive results utilised entirely traditional techniques, materials and perhaps the most important elements of focus, patience and application.

To further celebrate the Luna New Year, pupils filled Oakeley kitchen with a hive of activity, as all pupils were invited to attend a dumpling making session with Miss Wang.
