Akshika, who is currently in Year 11 and attends Ormiston Venture Academy in Great Yarmouth, has won a scholarship for a Sixth Form place at Gresham’s School from September 2021. Here, she will experience independent school life, benefitting from a multitude of enrichment activities, a wide range of sport and the Dyson Building, the new centre for STEAM education, opening in 2021. The building, which incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths education, will be a particular benefit to Akshika who aims to study a range of Sciences and Maths at A level.

After completing her A levels, Akshika would like to study Medicine at university and progress to train as a Junior Doctor, eventually specialising in Paediatrics. Her previous work experience at the James Paget hospital and the Ormiston Herman Academy has ignited her interest in Paediatric Medicine. A focussed and hard-working individual, Akshika commented on receiving her place: “I am so grateful and excited to be awarded the scholarship programme at Gresham’s. I cannot wait to start this new venture, meet new friends and live away from home for the first time.”

Tim Hipperson, Deputy Head (Academic), commented “We will be delighted to welcome Akshika to Gresham’s this September. Her enthusiasm and wider interests suggest they will thrive at Gresham’s. We wish her both every success here and in the future.”
