Year 8 Operation Pashtun Protect
5 May 2021

Year 8 were given a briefing from Major Braithwaite about how they could develop an operation to protect a strategically important village in Afghanistan from a set of orders. Having seen active service himself in Afghanistan, Major Braithwaite was able to give a unique insight into the challenges posed by the terrain and by enemy forces. He set the pupils the task of using the equipment and troops available in order to deploy their resources to fulfil their mission, which taught them about how the British army plan and execute their operations. He was impressed by some of the plans put forward; there may well be a new military genius amongst Year 8 to watch out for in the future!
