Year 9 boarders take to the Norfolk seas in surfing lesson
5 May 2021

Our Year 9 boarders had the opportunity to go surfing, as part of their activities which take place on a Sunday. The pupils had a range of abilities and experience, but most had not taken part in a lesson before. Making the most of a break in the weather, they surfed as the tide went out in 0.60 metre waves. The first step was to coach all pupils through a basic introduction to surfing, starting with kneeling to standing. Some were able to advance onto trying the ‘pop up’ to standing, with a few pupils picking up the skills reasonably quickly. Everyone had a great time and earned the right to an ice cream on the way home. Our Year 10 boarders will have a chance to try surfing in the next few weeks.
