Year 9 pupils entered this year’s Model Trench Competition

Well done to Year 9 pupils on an outstanding set of entries into this year’s History Department STEAM Model Trench Competition. The standard was very high this year with entries notable for their scale, creativity and design. Mr Hazelwood, our Steam Co-ordinator, kindly agreed to judge the competition this year.

He picked out four outstanding entries from a very strong field. Congratulations to Josh B, James C M, Seb S and Walt D for an outstanding life-size outdoor trench construction which is worthy of a school trip. Harry S crafted a beautiful and detailed trench system with superb design features including audio commentary. Ben W created a stunning and highly authentic cross-section trench. All the winners will receive a prize in STEAM week, but Mr Hazelwood deemed the overall winner to be Marcella, who created a stunning trench in a draw with authentic trench construction and great design and modelling elements, as her entry was authentic modelling and transported him to the hideous landscape of the Western Front.
