Benjamin Britten (1928-30)

Archives > Benjamin Britten (1928-30)

In 2013 we celebrated the centenary of one of our most famous OGs, Benjamin Britten, with a host of concerts and other events including a special dinner and an exhibition.

Although the majority of material relating to Britten is held at the Britten-Pears Library, Aldeburgh, we do have a number of sources in the Archives that can be used to research his time here.  These include school lists, house books, registers, scores etc.  We have also extended our digital magazine archive thanks to the generosity of the OG Club to cover the years he was at Gresham’s.  A search under the name Britten can reveal some early concert reviews, prizes and honours, his performance in a house cricket match, and other intriguing details.
