ALEX Mitchell, Housemistress

Alex Mitchell joined Gresham’s in September 2017 teaching Biology and Chemistry as well as being a tutor in Edinburgh House. She is also the school’s Environmental Coordinator and supports potential medics and Oxbridge pupils in their UCAS applications. In September 2021, Alex became Assistant Housemistress of Woodlands.

Since becoming a teacher, the pastoral aspect of the job is something Alex is deeply passionate about. She sees being a Housemistress as a huge honour and a privilege. She enjoys forming strong, positive relationships with pupils and being part of their journey through Gresham’s. Kindness, positivity and hard work are values she holds close to her heart and will be the foundation on which she models the shape of Arkell House. The vision is to create a warm and vibrant space for our pupils to flourish, not only academically but to also support independent interests too, enabling each of them to reach their full potential.

Alex grew up in Hertfordshire and also has family in Calabria, Italy. She completed her degree in Biological Sciences, specialising in Genetics at UEA ,where she also completed her PGCE. Her two daughters attend the Prep school and have both been pupils at Gresham’s since they were three years old. In her spare time, Alex enjoys swimming, baking and being in our beautiful North Norfolk countryside, especially the beaches, with her daughters.
