Douglas Robb, Headmaster
I am very proud, as the Headmaster of Gresham’s, to introduce you to this remarkable School. We were founded in 1555 after a bequest to the Fishmongers’ Company to found a school by Sir John Gresham; they continue to work closely with the school to this day. Our website gives you an impression of all that a Gresham’s education can offer but is no substitute for a visit; I can promise you will receive a very warm welcome.
Curriculum
Academic life at Gresham’s aims to be stimulating, exciting and fulfilling. We expect every pupil to give their absolute best and maintain the highest standards in approaching their academic work.
In return, teaching staff aspire to bring out the very best in every pupil and take great pride in helping pupils to progress, develop and strive for ambitious goals.
Pastoral care
Gresham’s is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils. It is our wish to develop the full potential of every pupil by providing a safe and caring environment.
The school prides itself on its excellent pastoral care provision which underpins the full character education provided to all our pupils.
Houses
Our vibrant and supportive boarding community offers plenty of opportunity for fun. The mix of day and boarding pupils in the houses is supported and appreciated by both groups and develops a sense of loyalty to both the school and their house.
Co-curricular
We have a full and busy co-curricular timetable for the pupils at Gresham’s. From the moment pupils join the School there are a huge amount of opportunities on offer to get involved in and pupils benefit from a superb all-round education.
School life
The School day is very full. Lessons, sport, hobbies and co-curricular activities take place six days a week, followed by evening Prep at the Senior School on weekdays. There are frequent trips away from School, sports fixtures around the region and concerts and plays throughout the year.
Dyson Building
Sir James Dyson, a former pupil at the school, has enabled the innovative new centre for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) education.
“By creating state-of-the-art spaces I hope that we can foster, inspire and educate more brilliant young minds. I am so pleased that Gresham’s will be leading the charge.” Sir James Dyson
