The Foundation aims to provide much more than bricks and mortar. It wants to support and enhance the unique character and ethos of Gresham’s and reconnect with Old Greshamians and friends.
Although the School receives valuable support from the Fishmongers’ Company, we also reply upon continued support from the wider Gresham’s Community. Through your generous donations the Foundation has been able to support many recent School projects, including the new Sports Pavilion, Britten Building equipment and technology and the Auden Theatre Seat Campaign. It has also enabled the school to increase the number of bursaries awarded which is something we wish to build upon in the coming years.
The Foundation Vision, to enhance and promote a progressive Gresham’s education and the School’s charitable objectives, forms the core of the Foundation’s ambitious plans for the future.
- Charitable objectives: increasing the current number of bursary places awarded to children. Founder, Sir John Gresham, held this as his primary vision in 1555 and his namesake Society continues his legacy with their legacy. We are developing strategies to build these bursaries. Nine children from Great Yarmouth Charter, which was reputed as one of the poorest performing schools in the UK, have successfully come through Gresham’s with some having gone on to Oxbridge. This year, amongst others still here, we welcome two promising children from the Ormiston Venture Academy.
- Enhancement of education: developing capital project plans for the future. Small Grants Scheme offering bi-annual awards for items aimed to enrich the pupils’ experience but which fall outside of school budgets. Awards for 2018-19 included Pre-Prep STEM equipment, 3-D printing pens for the Prep School, Senior School Drama received funds to update facilities in the Scruff Studio and Senior School Science received equipment for the new robotics STEM Club.
