GCSE pupils celebrate impressive results, with highest ever pass rate
20 August 2026

Top grades, outstanding individual achievements and plenty of reasons to celebrate: Gresham’s Year 11 pupils have produced another exceptional set of results, achieving the School’s highest ever pass rate at GCSE.
Building on the superb outcomes achieved earlier this summer by the School’s IB, A level and BTEC cohorts, Gresham’s pupils once again demonstrated their academic strength across a broad range of subjects.
This year, an outstanding 97% of all GCSE entries were graded 9-4, significantly above the national pass rate of 67%. At the highest grades, 49% of all entries were awarded grades 7-9, more than double the national figure of 22%.
Across the year group, 56 pupils achieved at least one coveted Grade 9, reflecting the depth of talent, ambition and hard work within the cohort.
Particular congratulations go to pupils Tom S, Elsie S, Amir R, Johnnie O, Meg O, Isabelle L, Lucy C, Chris C, Tristan B, Jemima A and Adeola A, who achieved a remarkable clean sweep of grades 9-7 across all of their GCSE subjects.
A special mention also goes to Ben B, who was acknowledged by leading UK awarding body, Cambridge OCR, as one of the top performers in GCSE Art and Design: Three-Dimensional Design, this year. This significant achievement makes Ben one of the top performing pupils in the country. It represents recognition of an exceptionally high standard of work and marks a distinguished accomplishment.
These outstanding results are evidence of the hard work and commitment shown by pupils throughout their GCSE studies, supported every step of the way by their teachers, tutors, pastoral teams and families.
We are incredibly proud of all our Year 11 pupils and look forward to welcoming many of them into the Sixth Form as they begin the next exciting stage of their Gresham’s journey. Well done to all!
