Prep Pupils champion sustainability during Green Week
16 May 2025
Pupils at the Prep School have been leading the way in environmental awareness with a week-long celebration of Gresham’s Green Week.
Each day brought a new initiative focused on sustainability. The week kicked off on Monday with a completely meat-free lunch menu, highlighting the environmental benefits of reducing meat consumption. On Tuesday, pupils and staff switched off as many lights as possible around the school, embracing the power of energy conservation.
Wednesday saw a school-wide book swap, encouraging reuse and a love for reading. The school community then ‘wore it green’ on Thursday, donning green outfits and raising funds for Friends of the Earth, and also for Nelson’s Journey, in aid of Mental Health Awareness Week.
The week concluded on Friday with the Big Green Quiz, putting pupils’ eco-knowledge to the test. Dr Rose also addressed Years 7 and 8, offering guidance on managing climate anxiety.
