Prep pupils win IAPS Debating Competition 2026 in Cambridge

Pupils from the Prep School secured an impressive victory at the Regional IAPS Debating Competition 2026, held on Thursday at St Faith’s School in Cambridge.

The event brought together sixteen teams, each representing their schools with carefully prepared arguments and their strongest debaters ready to tackle the seen motion. The standard of competition was high throughout the day, with participants demonstrating confidence, critical thinking and persuasive speaking skills.

The Prep School team delivered a standout performance, ultimately winning the shield after strong debates against St Faith’s and Orwell Park. Their success was driven by excellent teamwork and sharp argumentation, particularly from Etta and Ella, whose collaboration and debating ability proved decisive.

The achievement reflects the strength of the school’s debating programme this year. Miss Sharp has led the development of debating within the Prep School, ensuring that as many pupils as possible in Years 7 and 8 have had opportunities to build key skills and participate in both formal debates in school and out of school.
