Netball

Netball is the major sport for girls in the Lent Term. All the girls from Year 3 to Year 8 train and play matches in their 3 or 4 weekly games sessions.

There are five outdoor courts and we also have use of six outdoor courts and the sports hall at the Senior School.

Fixtures are a regular feature with all girls having the opportunity to represent the School at a wide range of levels. The matches are played in a competitive manner with a large emphasis on a good standard of sport, sportsmanship and of course enjoyment.

We play a range of opponents including local schools as well as many teams further afield. These include: Beeston Hall School, Langley Preparatory School at Taverham Hall, Langley School, Norwich School, Norwich High School for Girls, RHS Holbrook, Wisbech Grammar School, Town Close, Glebe House School, Rowell Park as well as Gresham’s Under 14 B and C teams from the Senior School.

Gresham’s is very fortunate to have the expertise of Director of Netball, Mrs Helene Buckingham, a former Under 21’s England player and coach of the England Under 17 side. Mrs Buckingham oversees the coaching programme for all teams whilst ensuring that every player can maximise their potential, regardless of level. She is responsible for ensuring that consistency and best practice is developed within the coaching programme.
