Pupils Set Their Sights on the Future After Outstanding A Level and BTEC Results
13 August 2026

Exceptional results, exciting destinations and ambitious futures were the order of the day at Gresham’s as Sixth Form pupils celebrated another year of outstanding A Level and BTEC success.
At A Level, 42% of all grades were awarded at A* or A, compared with a national average of 28.5% while an impressive 89% of grades were awarded at A* to C, an increase on last year’s already strong performance.
Pupils studying BTEC qualifications also enjoyed excellent success, with 30% achieving the prestigious Distinction* grade, reflecting the commitment, talent and ambition of this year’s cohort.
Universities have once again been quick to welcome Gresham’s pupils, with 98% securing places at either their firm or insurance choice. Members of the Class of 2026 will now embark on the next stage of their journeys at universities across the UK and around the world, including Bath, Birmingham, Bristol, Cambridge, Coventry, Derby, Durham, Edinburgh, Exeter, King’s College London, Leeds, Loughborough, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Oxford Brookes, Royal Holloway, Sheffield, Southampton, St Andrews, UCL, UEA, Warwick, York, and Munich.
Alongside university destinations, pupils have secured places at prestigious specialist institutions including the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Royal Academy of Music, and Harper Adams University, while others have chosen to pursue degree apprenticeships and professional career pathways.
These achievements build on the excellent results achieved earlier this summer by Gresham’s International Baccalaureate pupils and demonstrate the continued strength and breadth of academic success across the School’s Sixth Form.
Today’s results are a testament to the determination, resilience and hard work of our pupils, supported throughout their journeys by dedicated teachers, tutors, Housemasters and Housemistresses, pastoral and support staff, the SEND team and their families.
We are immensely proud of everything they have achieved and look forward to seeing what they accomplish next as the newest generation of Old Greshamians.
