Donors can now give towards the seven senior school boarding houses at Gresham’s.
Supporting the Houses will mean that Housemasters and Housemistresses have the opportunity to do more and provide their pupils with the very best house experience. By making a single or recurring gift, you will be enhancing the house community and supporting the welfare of the pupils and their attachments to and involvement within their house. You could be helping to fund a new table tennis table within the common room, for example, or it might enable the building of a new outdoor area for the pupils to enjoy and relax in.
The seven Senior School Houses are hoping to raise £10,000 each, which will go a particularly long way to helping them achieve their goals. All have ambitious projects that they are seeking funding for, whilst some also have desirable equipment and items for the common room or other areas of the House. The major projects across all Houses, more often than not, involve the updating and transformation of outdoor spaces, all of which will have a significant impact and greatly add to the pupils’ time within their houses.
The School and Houses will not be able to realise their hopes and aims without the generosity of the Gresham’s community – thank you in advance for considering offering your support, and we look forward to keeping the community informed of the progress of each House’s fundraising efforts!

- EDINBURGH
The Edinburgh girls would love to develop their outdoor area and garden space, making it as inviting and pleasant a space for them to relax in as possible. The House would like to raise funds in order to:
- Install a new outdoor seating area in the garden, consisting of bench/sofa-style seating and a permanent gazebo.
- Add lighting in the courtyard area next to the Common Room.
- And plant wild flowers with fruit trees in the garden.
Additional funds raised will help to purchase games and paintings for the Common Room, as well as to improve the kitchen facilities and spaces.

- FARFIELD
Farfield has an ambitious plan to turn the area outside the common room on the south side of the building into a multi-purpose space. This would involve installing tasteful doors on the south wall of the common room, creating an outside seating area – which can double as an area for mini concerts and recitals – and add lighting so it can be used at night.
It will add a new dimension to the House and create an ideal outside space for the boys and their parents to use.

- HOWSON’S
The House is keen to both update equipment in the common room and create an area that provides Howson’s boys with an outdoor space that is theirs.
The long-term plan is to turn the garden space between the day rooms and the drive to the private side into a quiet, outdoor study space and veg garden. It would be an amazing space for the boys to work in and parents to use in the warmer days. The boys could grow vegetables and relax there when the House has BBQs or socials. Inside the House, new table tennis and pool tables would be fantastic and much needed additions and prove very popular with the boys!

- OAKELEY
The House would like to extend the current patio area and create more outside space for the girls to enjoy. The plan would be to extend the current patio towards the flower bed. This would create space for a pergola, new garden furniture and a fire pit – a significant development that will get a great deal of use by the girls.
Additional funds raised will help to purchase items for within the House, specifically in the common room area.

- QUEENS’
The House has very recently benefited from particularly generous support from two parents, which has enabled the transformation of the area outside the common room. A patio has been laid and a pergola and furniture installed, whilst numerous other items have also been purchased and other work has been completed inside the House thanks to the donors’ support.
In addition to this, the House and Queens’ girls would greatly benefit from a wellbeing and yoga studio that is for their use only – it would involve renovating the annex in the car park to create this new space. It would be an amazing, further update to the House. All funds raised will help with the renovation and purchasing of equipment for use in the room.

- TALLIS
The Tallis Courtyard is in need of an overhaul. New paving, lighting, a seated area and a general re-imagining is required in order to make the area more attractive and appealing.
The courtyard is, of course, a very well used part of the House and an ideal space for the boys to enjoy. It is a rather unique space to have and the Housemaster wishes to get the most out of it. A great deal could be done to update it and make it more welcoming.

- WOODLANDS
The House has two exciting projects that funds would be used for. Firstly, to create a paved outdoor seating area opposite the front entrance of the House. This will be a lovely social space for the House to use for year groups social events like pizza nights and BBQs. Secondly, a Sixth Form common room. The current Prefects Room and work room would be combined to create a big open plan space in which the Woodlands Sixth Form could use for private and collaborative study, as well as rest and recuperate in front of the TV. Both these projects would enhance the academic and social offering of the House.
Additional funds raised will help restore the House grandfather clock that was donated by a Woody OG 70 years ago and upgrade the electric piano in the common room.
