Year 9 ‘Glow and Flow’ talk explores how sport can support wellbeing

We recently invited our Year 9 girls for an open and positive conversation about menstrual cycles, understanding their bodies and embracing what makes them amazing as females.

The session explored how monthly cycles work, the changes the female body experiences and how sport and physical activity can play a positive role in supporting wellbeing. The talk also discussed the importance of looking after yourself throughout your cycles, focusing on the simple but powerful things they can do, including good nutrition, staying hydrated, getting enough rest and finding movement that feels right for their bodies.

Most importantly, pupils were reminded that they should never have to feel alone and that support is always available when they need it. Creating an environment where periods and women’s health can be discussed openly, without embarrassment or discomfort, was a key message throughout.

The session also celebrated female strength, confidence and resilience, encouraging pupils to recognise their potential and feel proud of who they are. It reinforced the importance of supporting one another, challenging expectations and empowering the next generation of girls to feel confident, informed and inspired.
