Learning Enrichment

Nursery and Pre-Prep > Curriculum > Learning Enrichment

We understand that some children have additional educational needs requiring specific and differentiated support. These needs may be due to a specific learning difficulty or a unique gift or talent. They may also stem from a pupil for whom English is not their first language.

We promote inclusion and acceptance where all pupils access and engage in a significant, relevant and challenging curriculum. Most importantly, Gresham’s has an underlying belief in quality teaching practices and high expectations for all.

Learning Enrichment caters for pupils with physical disabilities and a variety of specific learning difficulties including ADD/ADHD, Dyslexia, ASD and Speech Delay. We have a unique assessment programme and can diagnose conditions such as Dyslexia.

Pupils have an individual education plan which is reviewed and updated. We teach in small groups, one to one, and in class where necessary.

Some pupils may require learning support throughout their entire career at Gresham’s while others may only require extra help occasionally. We do our utmost to offer assistance which best matches the needs of the pupil, striving to help each child excel. Many pupils receiving learning support will go on to achieve impressive GCSE, IB and A-level results and we take pride in their achievements.

Our Learning Enrichment room is run by our dedicated qualified SEN teacher Mrs Louise Down  She has a passion to support every child with their own bespoke learning profile. Louise is our Learning Enrichment Lead and has been working in both state and independent schools for over 20 years as a SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator) and SEN Tutor. She has a passion for understanding how children learn and strives to give each child the focused support and intervention they need to fulfil their learning potential. Louise was also part of a pioneering Dyslexia research team with St Bartholomew’s hospital, London, for over ten years.

She says: “We fully support children who have a wide range of SEN needs, those who need a little extra learning support or those who have a gift and need the focus to encourage and develop those gifts.  We have a large range of expertise to carry out our formal assessments  and therefore focus on early support and intervention.  Our door is always open to advise and support both parents and children, please pop in anytime and see what we can offer you.”
